Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Hinesville Fort Stewart

I needed to stay closer to work during a snowstorm, and booking was simple. I even made the reservation from the lobby and got a better rate. The staff were really friendly, and the room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed. The location worked well too, close to restaurants, just behind Applebee's and about 1.5 miles from the main gate at Fort Stewart.

The staff were friendly and did what they could, though they had no control over the problems with the room and hotel. After a 6 1/2 hour drive, this motel ended up being the worst part of our trip. At nearly $200 a night, it was nowhere near worth the price. I wouldn't stay again or recommend it to family or friends. That feels like a rate for a $90 motel, not this one. We'd reserved more than a month ahead and asked for extra pillows and sheets for the pullout couch. When we arrived, there were no pillows, and I had to go to the lobby to get sheets. The room was clean, but the bathroom didn't look cleaned. There were hard water marks on the shower doors, handles, and sink. The beds were almost the worst part: about 1.5 feet off the floor and very uncomfortable. The pullout couch was worse, with what looked like a twin crib mattress on a full-size couch. None of the nightstand outlets worked for charging. There was also a bright light outside our window. At first I assumed someone's headlights were on, so I closed the curtains as best I could. Two hours later it was still shining, and when I checked, our room faced the woods behind the motel, where cars couldn't park facing us. It was a tall industrial light on a tripod, plugged in and aimed straight at our window, with no one around. Staff said they couldn't unplug it. It stayed like a spotlight all night, shining through the room-darkening curtains.

The front desk attendant was wonderful. We had made a booking mistake, and he helped sort it out with a smile. The service alone gets a 10 out of 10 from me, and I'd absolutely recommend the hotel.

The hotel agreed to let me check out right away and said they would contact Priceline to arrange a refund, but later I got an email claiming I'd stayed three nights. That isn't true, and the failure to honor what they'd promised, along with reporting false information, felt deceptive and deeply unprofessional. When I arrived at Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites on Thursday, the place looked dated, was very dirty, and smelled musty. My husband is going through cancer treatment, so we couldn't stay even one night. I asked to leave immediately and get a refund, hoping we could resolve it amicably. This experience left me extremely disappointed. I'd urge travelers to think carefully before booking Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites, especially through a third party like Priceline. I hope the hotel improves its service and is more transparent. It's also a lesson for me about choosing accommodations and trusting commitments.
