I travel for work every week and stay at Hilton hotels around the country. This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had in years. The only person who showed the hospitality I expect from Hilton was the woman running the bar area. She was friendly, attentive, and took good care of guests. My biggest concern was the front desk. Emma was unpleasant and hard to deal with, and at times I felt she was dishonest. After several uncomfortable interactions, I asked if I’d done something to offend her. She basically said that if she was working the desk, I shouldn’t ask her for help. That’s unacceptable treatment of a paying guest. The property had a lot of problems, too. The whole fourth floor was under construction, with banging and movement going on until about 7:30 PM. Several outside doors wouldn’t open with my room key, which was a hassle when I parked on the side of the building. The indoor hot tub was green, the pool wasn’t operating, and bathroom tile in my room was coming loose. I also tried to add seven nights to my stay. The hotel charged my card around $1,700, but when I went to the desk I found out they were overbooked and couldn’t extend my stay. I had to scramble to find another hotel at the last minute. I’ve now moved to Fairfield Inn & Suites Hobbs for the next 49 days. Hilton’s loss, I guess. I filed a complaint with Hilton corporate and tried to work things out directly with the hotel. It became clear this location doesn’t meet basic customer service standards. I hope the owners take this seriously, reassess management, and make major changes. This isn’t what I expect from a Hilton property. If I could give it negative five stars, I would.

The rooms are clean and nice, and it’s a great hotel. But I stay with Hilton more than 100 nights a year for work, traveling from San Jose CA to Hobbs, and this is the only Hilton that seems unable to get the tax math right. The booking includes city tax but leaves out state tax, so expect the final bill to be about $15 higher. I hope I don’t get in trouble next week for going over budget because of their kindergarten-level math.

We booked two rooms through Booking.com on January 21st 2026 for one night on February 17th 2026. At 5.41pm local time on February 17th, Booking.com emailed my assistant that Hilton Garden Inn Hobbs could no longer accommodate us because the property was closing temporarily or permanently. Since the email went to my assistant, I didn’t see it before we arrived at 7.00 pm. The hotel told us the booking was canceled and sent us away without further help. After a long discussion with the staff, I managed to speak with General Manager Debra. She said they had to cancel and apologized, but offered no help. I then asked the staff to call her back and get the cancellation explanation in writing. Fifteen minutes later, Debra sent this: “To whom it may concern, on February 17, we were overbooked by 7 rooms and had to cancel several rooms. We did not do this lightly. We are offering to put them in another Hotel at our expense.” Unfortunately, there were no rooms left in Hobbs that night. We’ve taken this hotel off our company’s list of bookable places. I’ll leave readers to make up their own minds. I would give zero stars if I could. To be clear, I don’t blame the front desk employee. She did the best she could.

The rooms were clean and the staff was nice, but we had no power from 4am until checkout after an overnight outage. There was no electricity, hot water, or breakfast. At checkout, they offered a refund for the inconvenience even though we hadn’t asked, took my name and number, and gave me a contact to follow up with. When I called later, the hotel said they wouldn’t refund us because they hadn’t caused the outage. It felt like they promised refunds to keep people there while saying the power would be back soon, then refused when guests followed up.

Renovations are underway, and you can smell glue in the hallways. I had to leave early because there were ants in my room. At least they weren’t bedbugs, but between the construction and the ants, I’d stay somewhere else in Hobbs if I had a choice.
