Studio 6 Hobbs, NM – Event Center

We picked Studio 6 through its official website for my daughters' softball tournament, partly because it was listed as pet friendly and had a pool. This taught me that a cheap hotel isn't always a good choice. The day before arrival, they called to say the reservation had to be paid in full, so I paid by phone. At check-in they couldn't find it at first, then found it under another person's name. The website said pets should be declared at check-in and cost $10 per night per dog, which I was fine with and was a main reason I brought our dog. The clerk said dogs weren't allowed and that we'd be charged $250 per night. I showed her the policy; she called her manager, who said bringing the dog inside would mean a charge and that they'd tried to change the website but couldn't. I explained we'd only be there from 11 p.m. until 9 a.m. at most, but they still refused. Since nearby hotels were booked for the holiday weekend, I left the dog elsewhere and kept the reservation. Our first room was dirty, with unmade beds, food on the floor, and towels on the floor. The desk computer showed it as occupied. The next room they offered had one king bed for me, my husband, and our girls. After going to the desk for a third time, we finally got a room. At 7:30 in the morning, someone unlocked and opened our door. I ran to look, but nobody was in the hall, and there was no housekeeping cart or anyone there. Our room was in front of the stairs, so someone could easily have gone down and disappeared. At checkout, the clerk had a dog with her at the front desk. I just wanted a receipt, but it listed the first room, the one we never stayed in because it was dirty. She assured me that wouldn't cause a problem. The pool was out of service, and I have no idea how long it had been. This was the worst hotel experience I've had, and I don't recommend it. The place felt unprofessional and unethical.
