Sahara Inn

It's nice and quiet here, mostly peaceful, and the management and other tenants are nice. You can pay daily, weekly, or monthly, with rates depending on room size and number of beds. At least one two-bedroom option is available. It's on this side of town near Denny's and the Best Western, with Hatches liquor store and a gas station nearby. There aren't grocery stores close by, and the laundromat is probably about a mile away. There's no ice machine. For a limited monthly budget, this motel is a good option. The rooms are generally clean and have a refrigerator and microwave, and the front office has mops and a vacuum you can borrow to clean. For long-term stays, they don't tell you that you can only get clean sheets and towels once a month, and they won't supply toilet paper. Compared with some other places around here where I've stayed, this one gets a thumbs up.

Thank goodness we asked to see a room before renting. On the walk over, we saw several rooms with curtains open, furniture stacked up, and mattresses turned upside down. The corner room we were shown smelled musty and moldy, looked over 50 years old, and had cockroaches chasing each other on the bedroom door. If Holbrook has a Board of Health, someone should inspect the place and shut it down. Wow, just wow!

Wow, where do I start? There were bed bugs, cockroaches, and human feces in the bathtub. Bobby, the front desk manager, was terribly drunk and reeked of alcohol. He was shooting pellet guns at birds while extremely intoxicated. The housekeeper was rude and said she didn't even want to be there. I'm never staying at this horrible place again and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. If I could post pictures, by God, I would.

I've stayed at the Sahara Inn three times in the past three years, and whenever I'm in Holbrook, they've treated me best. Bob is a Godsend. He once made a special blend of coffee and brought it to my room. He loves the military folks and has always given us the best rates. The people there are a great bunch, and they'll also help you get discounts on local meals. I highly recommend the Sahara Inn.
