The lobby and business area are the strongest parts of this typical Hampton Inn, and the location is close to plenty of things in a decent part of town. The room was fine, and the beds were comfortable. Most of all, everything was clean. With five of us, even young kids, the limited room layouts felt cramped. There weren't many outlets either, which I've run into at every Hilton I've stayed at. The standard PTAC unit has controls on the side, and keeping the temperature comfortable felt like a choice between Siberia and the Sahara at midday.
The breakfast attendant was so kind and seemed genuinely glad to talk with guests. Seeing her first thing in the morning put me in a great mood for the day. Everyone on staff was nice and accommodating. Saydie was especially welcoming and helpful. She heard us wondering where to eat, then gave us a thorough list of nearby restaurants and some good ideas for things to see and do around town. I loved my stay here.
Our unexpected second night was in room 208, which smelled musty and had an old water mark patched on the ceiling. The carpet has seen better days, though you can walk straight out to the rear parking lot from that floor. I'd stay again, but I'd make sure to get a higher floor. The first night was on the sixth floor, and that room was good. It was clean, there were no bugs, and I could walk around in socks without them coming away filthy. The extra care with the bath linens was a nice touch. Water pressure was good too. The beds aren't my favorite, but they weren't bad, and the stay was pleasant.
The staff here really make the place. Everyone running things and working at the hotel was a superstar. The neighborhood felt a little interesting, maybe up and coming, but the hotel sits up on a hill at the end of a long driveway, so I felt safe. We arrived a bit early and were allowed into our room. It was huge and clean, with a microwave, wet bar sink, fridge, desk, and plenty of space for our things. The common areas were clean too. Fresh baked cookies in the afternoon were a fantastic touch, and the amenities were nice. Well done, keep it up.
We were glad we picked this hotel and will come back next time we're in town for a game. It's convenient to both UT campus and downtown Knoxville on game days, and the rates were reasonable compared with downtown choices. Everything was clean and nice. The front desk and breakfast staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming, and they do a great job keeping the rooms and shared areas in shape.
