Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Knoxville

We stopped by to ask about rates for my dad’s surgery in a few weeks. The location is convenient to Parkwest hospital, and the lobby smelled nice, but the service was awful. My father is disabled and my mother is blind, and the man at the desk seemed unprofessional and unwilling to help. They needed the restroom and were denied. He said it was out of order, though we had just seen someone come out. Maybe he wanted to keep it for guests, but they really needed to go. This happened on 3-23-23 at 1:30pm. After reading some other reviews, maybe this was for the best. One star is me being nice. I don’t recommend the hotel for its service.

The bed and sheets were comfortable and seemed clean, but the rest of the room needed attention. There were big drawings by kids on the wall, marks that looked like food stains, and red streaks on the bathroom mirror. It wasn’t decorated nicely, though that isn’t a major concern. The whole place just seemed poorly maintained. We didn’t feel very safe, and I slept badly. We left as early as possible the next morning.

The location was very convenient, with easy access to restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, and the interstate. I stayed in a wheelchair-accessible room, and the updates, especially in the bathroom, were impressive. That bathroom was nicer than ones I’ve had at pricier hotels. The one real issue was the A/C. It badly needs servicing. To keep cool, you practically have to sit right in front of it.

The lobby had a terrible smell that lingered throughout the property. In the bathroom, there was mold on the walls around a dirty toilet, and other surfaces were sticky and very dusty. Outlets were loose, and some drywall was exposed and unpainted. This place felt disgusting and hazardous. Management wasn’t helpful or reasonable. They offered to move us, but the replacement room had a poop smear on the wall beside the bed. I have plenty of photos showing how neglected it was.
