Ye Old English Inn

The restaurant inside the Inn was great, best fish ever, and Dena at the front desk was so nice and personable. The rooms are very small, but they’re of England, and larger suites are available if you ask for one specifically. It’s such a cozy place with lots of charm, a quaint english inn with a great atmosphere. No bells or whistle, but give it a try.

We loved the downstairs bar, with great 80s-90s music playing until 11 p.m., and we’d stay again. The inn has lots of character, with friendly staff, though this stay probably won’t suit everyone. Our full-size bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding was nice. The room was tiny, about 10x10 with a 6x6 bathroom, and the windows opened onto a pretty, European-feeling street. There was a smoke smell in the hallway, the AC was just a vent above the door, and there were no fridges or microwaves. The grand staircase is beautiful, but could be difficult for families with small kids or people with mobility issues. It’s a charming historic 1912 inn.

There’s a pub in the hotel that serves both guests and the public. It’s decently priced and has a good selection of house crafted old fashions. The rooms aren’t as roomy as modern hotel rooms, but they have several of the same amenities, including wifi and rokutv. For anyone who likes a historical location with a bit of a story, this place has room names based on English locations, and each room has a journal where you can leave a missive or adventure to share.

The waiter was polite and professional, checking on us every few minutes. The customer service was the only positive. The food was mostly bland for the price: the burger had no seasoning, the chef salad had bland, sparse toppings, and my other brother’s burger was bland too. My brother’s $19 ruben sandwich was super soggy from the sauerkraut. They could have at least added salt and black pepper. My mom liked the soup, and my brother’s girlfriend said the nachos were pretty good. I can confirm the nachos were good. The music was so loud I couldn’t hear myself think. For what I paid, I expected top quality food. I wouldn’t recommend this place even to someone drunk on the sidewalk looking for late night food. One star. I can’t believe it shows 4.4 stars for this restaurant. Must have been all older people with no tastebuds.
