TownePlace Suites by Marriott Miami Homestead

The toaster at breakfast was painfully slow, and they could use a better one. Still, we had a really nice stay. The hotel was modern and very clean, and our experiences with Marriott hotels have always been good, so this one fit right in. Having an electric car charger on site was a big help too. We could start the day with a full battery.

I had a confirmed late checkout through both the app and the night clerk when I checked in. The next day, the front desk called asking why I was still in the room after checkout time. When I explained, the day clerk said they had no record of it and got rude and argumentative. It made me wonder whether the day and night staff communicate at all. For the room and rate, I shouldn't have to deal with that kind of attitude. There are plenty of other places to stay. The location was convenient enough, though not the best, and the rooms were basic and well-used, nothing special. The service has a lot of room to improve.

We’ve stayed here several times and have always been happy with the staff, who are consistently upbeat and wonderful. This time, though, our room disappointed me. We were in room 311, where the finish at the bottom of the mirror was badly worn and bare in places, and the light over the sink was rusting. Those are maintenance issues that need attention.

The location was a real convenience, with Outback Steakhouse and a grocery store right next door. I liked how spacious the room was and having a full-size fridge to keep plenty of drinks. I was put in a handicap room, though, and water sprayed all over the place when I showered. Breakfast was a letdown, just processed food. Still, I had a great stay.
