We had a really relaxing time. November was so quiet, with deer and birds all around, and the staff were lovely. Ask for room 203. The buffet felt a little expensive for what you get, though. Pepes in town is much better value.

Be sober and follow the law if you’re going out on Lake Cumberland. It can give you wonderful memories when you treat it with respect, but there may be serious consequences if you don’t. The lake doesn’t care about your age, gender, or wealth. It’s absolutely beautiful and deserves respect. Please take both points seriously and enjoy it safely.

I was shocked to find dead spiders and what looked like bug eggs on the sheets in both my bed and the kids’ bed the next morning. I’d trusted that everything was clean because the kids had already lain down, though I usually check first. I think the room had been cleaned, just not recently enough to keep dust and bugs from building up. I’ve stayed here several times, in cabins and in the lodge before the remodel. The location is great and the staff are friendly, so I’d still come back, but I’d check the beds before settling in.

The pool being closed was the last straw, especially since I only found out the day before the trip, after I could no longer get a refund. The location is good, but the place is seriously dated and the rooms don’t seem to get a proper deep clean. Our bathroom was disgusting, with black mold and pink growth in the cracks, and the shower curtain smelled like it had been washed and left damp. Parking right outside our cabin didn’t become available until near the end of our stay. Breakfast had no protein at all, just cereal, yogurt and toppings, bread, and bagels. The person who checked us in wasn’t helpful about trails or waterfalls. Nearly $400 for two nights with a bathroom like that was not what I expected. I wouldn’t recommend staying in the cabins longer than one night until the mold and pink growth are fully dealt with.

The park is gorgeous and full of wildlife, and we’re already planning to celebrate our anniversaries here each year. We had our wedding here last weekend, and it was exactly what we’d dreamed of. The staff looked after us so well and were very accommodating. I also loved how affordable it was and that so much was provided, including the bartender and catering. They recommended a DJ, and we ended up loving him.
