The sunsets from the lanai and the easy walk to the beach were such a treat. Papakea Oceanfront Resort has peaceful ocean views, tropical landscaping, and grounds that are clean and well cared for. It felt relaxed and very much like Hawaii from the minute we arrived. We loved it.

We came back for a second stay, and my husband and I still really like this hotel. The ocean view from every room is a big part of the appeal, as is the location. Just keep in mind that different owners furnish and update their own rooms, so the furniture, decor, and renovation level can vary.

We stayed in apartment B310 and had a really nice time. It was clean and had everything we needed. I only wish the mattress were a bit firmer. If we make it back to Maui, we'd happily choose this apartment again. Kind regards from Zdravko and Romana, Mahalo!

We found a rat in the room and panicked. We grabbed our things and left immediately, then had to find somewhere else to stay in the middle of the night. There was no staff around, no one we could reach, and we didn't feel safe at all. This was shocking and unacceptable, and the place felt like a serious health hazard. It should not be operating. Avoid at all costs.

Everything was close by, and the place was clean with really friendly people. We enjoyed our stay. There wasn't a beach, which would have been nice, but that wasn't a deal breaker since Maui has plenty of other options.
