Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa

We’re so glad we chose this hotel. The staff made our short trip feel worthwhile, with every person we met being helpful and pleasant to talk with. Our clean third-floor room had two windows that opened onto a river view, and a waterfall outside that was surprisingly quiet. The bed was comfortable, and the manager helped us choose the room. Downstairs, the morning coffee bar was convenient, and we loved the little touches, like a big bowl of freshly picked apples at the service desk. There’s a nice gift shop, and the grounds are lovely to walk around. The breakfast was very good, and Ashleigh in the dining service was so nice. We enjoyed the conversation and the information she shared. Thanks to the manager for all the help, and we’ll see you again!

We had a lovely night in a king riverside room. The bed was comfortable, everything was very clean, the bathroom was updated, and the river view was lovely. Jasmine at the front desk and Alyssa at the bar were especially kind and warm, and made us feel welcome. It’s a historic hotel well worth experiencing. The rooms are smaller than you’d get in a modern building, but the charm and history are undeniable. There’s no coffee setup in the room, though fresh coffee and biscotti were ready in the lobby in the morning, so that wasn’t an issue.

We had a wonderful visit to the hotel and spa, and our room with the fireplace was perfect. The people made us feel special, going above and beyond at both the front desk and restaurant. Service in the lounge couldn’t have been better, and I highly recommend the huckleberry cocktail. The spa service was excellent too. The toilet occasionally kept running, but they fixed it right away. Even in the low season, there were plenty of staff, and they helped make our visit perfect.

The technician was really sweet and did a great job removing the dry skin from my feet, which I appreciated. But after that, she just rubbed exfoliator on my legs, and the pedicure felt no different from one at any ordinary salon. She said she'd come back to massage my feet once the polish dried, though I don't think she had massage training. I was given a manicure and pedicure for Christmas. I checked the website and chose the deluxe pedicure, then added the $30 leg exfoliation, moisturizer, and massage. It came to $185, and with a tip I paid over $200. I thought it would be fun to splurge at a fancy spa, but the hard, flat bench with pillows was uncomfortable, with no reclining. There wasn't even cucumber water, despite the listed hour and a half appointment and the price. It reminded me how much I miss Salon Visio, another local spa that closed. Next time I'll go to a regular pedicure place for half the price, where the chairs are comfortable. This didn't feel like a spa experience.
