Kenny's Tipperary Inn

The marina is right across the street, which worked perfectly for our fishing charter, and we’ll stay here again when we come back to fish. For a motor lodge, I really liked the accommodations. The room was clean, the price and location were good, and the pool was a plus. There’s some age showing on the bathroom ceiling, but it didn’t take away from the stay. The people were very nice, and we loved their dog.

The king bed was the highlight, I slept better than I had during two uncomfortable stays at small inns on the Jersey Shore and North Fork last year. The grounds are nicely landscaped, the location is walkable, and I was grateful for the off-season deals at Kenny's Tipperary Inn. I was here for a project and hope to return someday. Bring a sleep mask, though, since light comes in from both sides and there aren’t blackout curtains.

The hotel was clean and in a good location, but the room itself was just okay. The shower leaked and sprayed water onto the ceiling, so it couldn’t be used. The front desk had no similar room available. I tightened it myself with the multitool I carry. When I spoke with housekeeping, they called their manager, and someone came to greet me in a robe.

We had to leave a day early because our dog wasn’t a good traveler, but this was a decent no-frills place to bring a pet, and we might consider it again if he behaves better. The staff at the front desk were welcoming, restaurants were walkable, and a beach pass was available. The garden looked lovely and the pool was still open, though we didn’t use it. Our second-floor one-bedroom was clean and basic, with a comfortable king bed, air conditioning in both rooms, and a kitchen with a stovetop, microwave, fridge, toaster, dishes, drinkware, and cleaning supplies. The couch was covered, and the floors were mostly bare apart from an area rug, which made sense for a dog-friendly room. The toilet had an issue that we managed for one night and reported at checkout. The stairs were a bit steep, and getting to the garden and pool would have been easier from the ground floor. The website wasn’t clear that not all one-bedrooms open onto that area, so I’d ask for a ground-floor room. The coffee maker is only four cups, and filters might be useful. A list of nearby restaurants and delivery or takeout options would help too.
