Lightwell Hotel & Spa

We’d only stopped in Hood River for a day of shopping, then decided to stay overnight and try the Lightwell Hotel. It was a great surprise. The staff were friendly and professional, and our room was very nice and clean. Ending the day in the hot tub and spa was a treat. This is going to be our go-to for future romantic getaways.

Our children got sick, so we couldn’t travel for a confirmed hotel stay and spa appointment. We contacted the hotel several times by phone and email, asking to move both the stay and spa services to a future date. They refused to reschedule or offer any flexibility, while keeping the full payment even though we received neither service. Things happen, especially with families, and the way a business responds says a lot. We felt there was no empathy or effort to work with us. It seemed they were happy to take our money without providing anything. Based on this, I’d strongly caution others, especially families, to think twice before booking.

The hotel was beautiful, with very modern rooms, an amazing bathroom, and plenty of amenities. Having a cafe and bar on site was great, and the rooftop bar and restaurant are coming soon. The guests-only soaking pool and sauna added a lot to our stay, and we also booked a relaxing massage. Can’t wait to come back in summer!

The main drawback was how much we could hear from the room next door. The walls don’t block sound very well. Otherwise, the renovation kept many original features while making the hotel feel modern and luxurious. Our room was cute, the guest spa was free and relaxing, and the sauna was wonderful. The customer service was excellent, the price felt fair, and they offered a local PNW discount. We’ll definitely stay here again.
