The pictures make this place look better than it is. It’s old and run down, with a neglected facility and no real lobby. The clerk sits behind plexiglass, which gave the place more of a rent-by-the-hour feel than a two-star hotel. The room barely had air-conditioning, and a random fan tried to move air from the living area into the bedroom. There was also a strange hole in the kitchenette ceiling. The walls and ceiling are paper thin. In the afternoon, the long-term tenants above sounded like they were herding elephants, then at night like they were juggling barbells. The front clerk was nice when I asked for help with the noise and already knew which room I meant. It stopped right away, but started again around 1 a.m. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else.

I hate leaving reviews like this because I’m a business owner too, and I’m just trying to share honest feedback. Check-in was smooth, but I noticed the battery cover was missing from my door, leaving the batteries exposed. Every other door I saw had its cover, so it didn’t seem normal, and I worried someone might get into my room. I asked the front desk to move me, but they said they were fully booked, which I understood, so I stayed. The room also felt a little hot, and there was white stuff all over the thermostat. In the morning, a big bug crawled toward me, so I packed up and checked out. The staff said they’d been really busy the day before and might have missed cleaning my room. The room itself wasn’t bad and the hotel did the job, but they may be understaffed or not paying close enough attention to details. I don’t mean this to be condescending, just to give people more information.

I stayed from OCT 30-NOV 2. My suite was spacious and laid out well, with a kitchen that had dishes, cups, silverware, and a dishwasher. It was spotless and smelled fresh, the bathroom was clean, and the big bed was comfortable and felt genuinely clean. The renovated hallways were also pleasant, with new carpet, fresh paint, and a clean smell. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and accommodating. The arrival area felt cold and makeshift, with a large plastic partition separating the desk from guests. A more refined setup, or removing it, would help. Outside, the recently purchased property is under renovation, so debris and a few buckets and other odds and ends hurt the first impression. There’s no breakfast or coffee, though the room price was reasonable for the in-room setup. Housekeeping isn’t provided unless you stay over a week, and you can’t request it sooner. To get fresh linens, you have to carry used towels and sheets down the hall and exchange them yourself. That feels cheap and out of place in a hotel with such nice rooms and hallways. I loved the clean, roomy suite and its amenities, but the lobby and housekeeping policy are drawbacks. If they added $5-$10 a day, made the bed, brought fresh towels and linens, took away the old ones, and offered breakfast, this could easily be my first choice in Hoover.

The bed was comfortable and clean, and the room was quiet. The rest needed more attention: there was urine residue on the back of the toilet, a stained shower curtain and carpet, and thick dust on the fan between rooms. We also found food and grease on the dishes, so wash them before using. This hotel used to be much cleaner before it closed and reopened.

I slept great on an extremely comfortable bed, and the newly renovated place was very quiet. The staff were friendly and efficient. There’s a full-size microwave and fridge. Pets are allowed for a nonrefundable $75 per stay, but service animals aren’t charged a fee.
