La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Houma

The front desk handled an issue with some unwelcome neighbors promptly, and the woman there kept us informed. Staff were friendly and quick to help whenever we needed anything. Our room did have some problems: the lighting could be better, and there was no heat, though we managed. The outside doors slamming weren't very welcoming either. Still, it worked well for a night in Houma.

The night staff were amazing, and everyone at the front desk was wonderful. The place was clean, and we were mostly happy with our stay. There’s a laundry room if you need to wash clothes, plus a mini fridge and microwave in the room. There were four of us, but housekeeping had left one washcloth and two towels. Getting more seemed like a big deal to them. The room also had no chair, so we had to sit on the bed. One morning, we found a lizard in the room, which really surprised us. The queen beds tilted a little, with the foot end higher than the head. You barely noticed at first, but the right side felt like you might roll off. Breakfast came with muffins, waffles, bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and coffee. The bacon was overcooked and the eggs weren't good, though the coffee was.

We had a really pleasant stay. Kim, Keyshia at the front desk, and the breakfast lady whose name I forgot were such sweet people.

We booked three rooms for our group. After we mentioned that we had a small dog, we were moved from a first-floor room to one on the third floor. In our room, the shower and tub wouldn't drain properly. I reported it at the desk, but nobody came to fix it, so we had to shower in a pool of water every night. The second room had lights that weren't working, but that was taken care of right away. The third room smelled musty. I can't recommend staying here, especially with the drainage problem left unresolved.
