The staff were polite and the place looked decent at first, but too many problems made this stay unacceptable. The sheets clearly hadn’t been changed, with so much hair in the bed that we asked for clean ones and remade the bed ourselves. The room trash still had the previous guest’s garbage in it. That kind of neglect isn’t acceptable. The nights were uncomfortable because the air conditioner was dysfunctional. It made a very loud noise and barely cooled the room, so we had to choose between the noise and the heat. Other equipment was out of order as well. The laundry room dryer didn’t work, leaving our clothes soaking wet, and neither did the hair dryer in the room. One chair was assembled incorrectly and tilted forward, making it unusable and potentially dangerous. Breakfast was nothing like the online photos, which felt misleading. There were no omelets, bacon, or yogurt, just a few slices of bread and a toaster that couldn’t keep up with the guests and was always occupied. The waffle machine wasn’t working properly, the batter stuck and burned, and this morning there was no hot water or waffle batter at all. The drinking fountain in the lobby smelled unpleasant, and I didn’t trust the water quality. Some issues might be excusable on their own, but together they show a clear lack of maintenance, oversight, and respect for guests. The few good points are completely overshadowed by all the failures.

I stopped in Houston unexpectedly and decided to try this place. The price was great, and the hotel was much better than I expected. Van at the front desk was super helpful. I left before breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. I’ll stay here again.

We cut our weekend short after breakfast turned into an upsetting situation. My niece was getting food for my mom, who recently had surgery and is a breast cancer survivor. Staff stopped her and told her to put it back. The sign said it was a breakfast buffet, but when she filled a cup halfway with cereal, they got angry and told her to pour it back. The woman at the front desk listened, but she was also quite rude, and the whole interaction felt uncomfortable.

The outside looked clean and cared for, but the room was a different story. There was a strong urine smell as soon as we walked in, the bathroom was grimy, the tub was stained with peeling paint, and there were stains on the bench, curtains, blankets and several towels. Some blankets had burn holes, too. We asked for another room, but were told housekeeping had left and there were no rooms available. The desk clerk came by and sprayed air freshener instead. Breakfast was poor as well: one gallon of milk for everyone at the cereal station, and the orange juice was thick and concentrated, like no water had been added. We were there with our two young children from 2/28/26 to 2/29/26. I know a cheap hotel comes with limits, but I still expect it to be clean. They call it a “Grand Hotel,” but the complaints seem to be the grand part. Just nasty.

The room was spotless and beautifully put together, and breakfast had a nice range of hot options. My sister and I also found the price very reasonable for the service and the artistic look of the rooms. What really made our stay at the Aspen Grand Hotel was the front desk team. Every person we met was friendly and professional, greeting us warmly whenever we came back from a long day of work. It felt peaceful and relaxing, away from the noise. This hidden gem was a delight, and I’ll definitely return.
