Best Western Houston Bush IAH Intercontinental Airport Inn

The location was convenient for getting to the airport, but I don’t think I’d stay here again. It wasn’t worth $75. Check-in was smooth, though the receptionist was on his cellphone during the interaction and didn’t react much. My room was on the third floor, and the elevator was broken. I have a medical condition that makes stairs difficult, but it was late and I was tired, so I managed. The room and bathroom were fairly clean. In the morning, I found an old, moldy hair dryer that didn’t work. Not a great start to the day.

On my third stay, the room was worn and the elevator was still out of order. The shuttle took 30 minutes to arrive at 11 p.m. Breakfast hours have changed and now run until 9 a.m. I’d prepaid online with a gift card, but on arrival they charged the full room rate after telling me my credit card was only being held for incidentals. I called Best Western and now have to wait for a manager to respond or dispute the charge with my card company. The hassle wasn’t worth it. The second time I stayed, the elevator was also inoperable. Breakfast was limited to waffles, sausage, biscuits, oatmeal, cereal, and yogurt, with no fruit, and was served only from 6 to 8 a.m. My room at the back was much darker than the one at the front, so ask for a back-facing room if you want less light. The hotel seemed cleaner and safer than others nearby, but it wasn’t five-star quality. On my first visit, the location was very handy for IAH and the long-term parking lots. The rooms had been renovated, and the bathroom and bedding looked new and were very clean, though the floors felt sticky. The wooden blinds didn’t block the parking lot lights, which shone into the room all night. My flight was at 6:50 and breakfast started at 6, but there were no grab-and-go options. They did offer a shuttle, unlike nearby hotels that advertise one but don’t provide it. It’s not perfect, but I’d stay again because it’s the best nearby option.

We booked through Expedia, canceled our first reservation five minutes later after noticing the dates were wrong, then booked again with the right dates. At check-in, the staff member said we still had two reservations and, when I explained that we’d canceled one, rudely insisted we still had to pay. I had to email her Expedia’s cancellation notice. The staff were extremely rude, the room floors were sticky and gross, and the elevator was broken. We had to carry three heavy suitcases up the stairs.

We rented two rooms for one night so we’d be near the airport for an early flight. For the price, it was a nice and convenient stay. The rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was free and included juice, cereal, bagels, yogurt, fruit, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee. Not the best place, but definitely not the worst.
