Romana Hotel

I booked two rooms last minute for one Friday night because nearby hotels had no availability. The property looked abandoned, with debris and junk around the building and not enough lighting. Near the front entrance I saw two homeless men in ripped, dirty clothes, with their pants halfway down and looking drugged and unwell. I got scared, jumped in my car, and left. Travelocity contacted the property to cancel, but they refused the refund, saying it was safe. I lost about $200. I should have read the reviews first. Don’t book here; go see it for yourself. Your safety matters most.

I was in the room for less than five minutes before leaving. First, the receptionist sent me to a room that was already occupied. Then the guy at the front desk took me to another one, which was covered in roaches, including the bed, headboard, and baseboards. I told them that wouldn’t work for me, but he wasn’t helpful and refused a refund. What a rip-off. Don’t stay here.

The only nice thing I can say is that the balcony view was good. The room looked decades out of date, like something from the 1950s, and needs remodeling. The furniture smelled of Black & Mild smoke, the bed cover had cigarette holes, and roaches were all over. If you just need a few hours to sleep before moving on, that’s what this place is good for.

After my flight was delayed, I arrived at midnight to find that the receptionist had given my prepaid room to someone else. They sent me to another hotel that didn’t even have hot water. I came back the next day as instructed to get the room I’d paid for, but they said I wasn’t in the system and wouldn’t refund me. I went to the Romada instead, and the extra money was worth it.
