Hampton Inn & Suites Houston Heights I-10

The bus stop right in front of the hotel made it easy to leave my car and ride downtown. Bus 85 comes every 15 minutes, and for $1.25 it's a 20-minute trip. I never felt unsafe, and it saved me downtown parking costs. I hope to return soon. The hotel exceeded what I needed: free self-parking, clean rooms, friendly front desk staff, especially Ishmael, great wifi, and coffee and tea available all the time. The free hot breakfast had breads and pastries, eggs and omelettes, potatoes, waffles with syrup, sprinkles, and chocolate chips, plus oatmeal with nuts or raisins. There was fruit salad and grab-and-go oranges, bananas, and yogurt too.

Jerrell, who I believe was working overnight, was genuinely wonderful and gave outstanding service. The hotel itself was quiet and very nice. But around 7-8 p.m. on February 2, the front desk employee on the shift before him left a full line of guests waiting for nearly 20 minutes while she dealt with people setting up or packing up in a conference room. She could see us and still didn't ask them to wait. Everyone was sighing and rolling their eyes. I understand she was working alone, but guests at the desk should have come first. It was awful and basic customer service.

The hotel was peaceful even with the interstate and railway nearby, and the gated parking was a nice extra. My bed was comfortable enough that I slept like a baby. Breakfast was great, service was great, and the hotel had recently been renovated. Downtown was about a 15-minute drive.

The indoor pool and 24-hour gym were a great bonus, and I liked having free breakfast too. It’s a gated property, so I felt my vehicle was safe, and the location was handy for restaurants and shopping. This was my first stay, and I was impressed by how clean the rooms were and how friendly and organized everything felt. I’ll definitely come back.
