The breakfast and the young woman on the night shift were the only real bright spots. She was the one person who gave good customer service. I came for the rodeo and got a pretty good deal, but the stay was full of little problems, so maybe spending more would have been better. The room was okay, nothing special, and the TV worked only sometimes. The elevator was painfully slow and then stopped working altogether. We had to climb five flights. I told Ronaldo from maintenance, and he said it might be fixed today or maybe tomorrow. His coworker Kadian, wearing a polka dot blouse and blue jacket, told me I could check out if I didn't like it. I later learned she was the manager, which seemed like awful leadership. Ronaldo tried to fix the TV later but couldn't. He said the TV itself worked and the service provider, DirectTV, was the problem. When I asked his coworker's name, he said he didn't know any of his coworkers' names, which was wild given that he worked there. The revolving entrance door didn't work, and the regular front door was nearly coming off its hinges, so everyone had to use the side door. I had booked two rooms but could only get late checkout for one, until 12:30. I came for the rodeo and got a pretty good deal, but this place just wasn't it.

The staff were great and accommodating, and breakfast was fresh and very good. The hotel was clean, but it's older and clearly needs remodeling. Since it’s listed as serving local medical facilities and many guests are immunocompromised, I expected a higher level of cleanliness. The carpet is old and stained and should be replaced, and the shower ceiling paint is peeling.

The staff were attentive and nice, and breakfast had plenty of good options. I heard the shuttle is convenient, though I didn't use it. The room was clean, with a decent mattress, a nice desk, and a bathroom that looked okay after a likely remodel. I didn't check out the gym or pool. The TV was old and not smart, and the amenities felt sparse. The textured concrete ceiling made the room feel like a parking garage or institution, which I didn't like. The hallways and rooms smelled musty. I also read reviews saying vehicles get broken into inside the 'locked' gates, which you pay extra for, so don't leave valuables in the car just in case. This isn't advertised as a luxury hotel, but it also doesn't feel like a particularly good low-end option. For the price, it wasn't good value.

Chris and Brenda drive the hotel shuttle from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and they're tireless and dedicated. We love them. The hotel treated us wonderfully and made us feel special when we needed help most. It's very close to the MD Anderson medical complex, with gated, very safe parking. The rooms are neat and clean, with a mini fridge and microwave. When it's in season, the pool is great. There's a luby's cafeteria right next door that is excellent and very fast, plus plenty of other restaurants and a Target nearby.

After a long drive, getting stuck at the parking gate was incredibly frustrating. My room key wouldn't open it after five minutes of trying, and there were two cars behind me. I moved aside, but the second car's key didn't work either. A third car finally got the gate moving after several tries. I just wanted to get to my room and lie down. The room smelled musty and was only okay. Check-in was also just okay, with nobody especially helpful, and breakfast was available but limited, nothing memorable. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're in a pinch, and I wouldn't stay again.
