Aloft by Marriott Houston Downtown

I expected a better experience for the price. Parking was $57, and my card was charged twice for it. The bed was uncomfortable, and the walls were so thin I could hear the neighbors and all the noise outside. I heard bushes loading and unloading, loud motorcycles, music, and even the valet workers talking outside my window. It made it very hard to sleep. The room was poorly designed, and water pressure throughout the hotel was terrible. My stay at Aloft Houston Downtown was disappointing.

I was only here for one night to run an errand across the street, and the stay was pleasant. Everyone working there, including the valet guys, was nice and professional. Special thanks to assistant GM Ms. Latoyia Layne, who was courteous and made everything easy, from check-in to letting me check out a bit late. I also needed to print a document, but the printer wouldn’t start. While handling the desk, payments, and calls, she still tried her best to help. I did manage to get my document printed and my errand done. I’d stay here again on another Houston visit. Thank you!

Parking was a nightmare, and the room setup felt awkward with more than one person. The bathroom has no door, the shower door sticks, and the space is really cramped. There’s a fridge in the bathroom, too. The windows are so dirty I’d keep the shades shut. You need your key card with you all the time to get around the hotel. You can’t sign into your own streaming accounts, and one bedside light buzzed while the other kept flashing.

I spent four nights at the Aloft, from 1/13 through 1/17, and wouldn’t recommend it. The escalator to the second floor never worked, and the rooftop pool was tiny and unheated. Breakfast was poor, the seating area was small, and food wasn’t even available for all the hours listed. My room had no overhead lights and was very dark, with a brick wall about two feet from the window blocking the light. Worst of all, there was no hot water for all four days. I reported it the first morning, but it stayed ice cold. I’d look for anywhere else in downtown Houston!!!!!!!!!!!
