Holiday Inn Express & Suites Houston - Memorial Park Area by IHG

We only spent one night, but the king suite was roomy and great. The staff were super friendly and handled everything we needed, and the breakfast was on point. Late checkout was much appreciated. We were in town to see Adam Ray at the Improve. Thanks, Holiday Inn Express. Best room ever, and I’ll definitely come back for a longer stay.

The deposit still hasn't been released, days after checkout, and the unexplained 61.46 USD charge is also stuck on my card. I'm still wasting time trying to get my money back, and this trip became incredibly stressful. If you value your peace of mind, don't stay here. I prepaid the full reservation through agoda, got the confirmation, and checked in normally. Then, while I was asleep around 3-4am, the hotel charged my card 61.46 USD with no warning, explanation, or receipt. That's an unauthorized charge, and it feels borderline like theft, not a simple mistake. When I contacted the hotel, they blamed agoda and said they hadn't received payment, even after I sent my official agoda confirmation email. I booked and paid through agoda, so I don't see why fixing a payment issue between the hotel and the platform should be my problem. They also never answered my question about the charge. No explanation, apology, or anything.

Breakfast was a highlight, especially the best instant coffee I’ve had at a hotel. Brooke kept a hot buffet going with egg white omelets, scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, turkey or pork sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, oatmeal, cereal, granola, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, breads, bananas, oranges, yogurt, and boiled eggs. The dining room is large and comfortable, with work stations and two TVs showing news. I’d prefer taller chairs at the high tables, but I understand the laptop eye-level choice, and I appreciated having TV options. My king room and bathroom were large and clean, and the hotel was quiet, even in the halls and beside I-10/Katy Fwy. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. Bathrooms have quality soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers, fluffy towels, lighted side mirrors, and a full-length mirror. The Keurig just needs water, and there’s a microwave and a fridge roomy enough for plenty of food and drinks. Every staff member I met was friendly. Check-in Thursday afternoon, Oct 16, was welcoming and helpful, though I didn’t catch his name to give him a shout-out. The pool was clean, though a few spots could use fresh paint. The gym is small but functional. Parking is free in a bright, open lot. It’s a very convenient spot, with a longer but doable walk to Memorial Park. For the price and amenities, this is very good value. This Houston Holiday Inn Express deserves better than its average star rating and works well for short or long stays.

The hotel feels quite dated, but the price is good and the hospitality is great. Breakfast was the standard hotel kind of thing. We were able to park our box truck in the back.
