La Quinta by Wyndham Houston Willowbrook Vintage Park

We stayed at this hotel exactly a year ago and got great service, but this time was different. There was paint everywhere and stains on the carpet. The hot tub and bar weren’t open, and the pool was unusable because it was ice cold. Staff weren’t friendly. At 6:30 PM, we got a call telling us to be quiet, even though my young son was only walking around the room and we weren’t being loud. We had to ask for blankets and towels. There were no blankets on the beds and only two towels, and when we asked for towels, they rolled their eyes.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but when I brought up the room problems, they wouldn’t offer a discount. The best they could do was give me a fresher pillow. The pillow I’d woken up to had giant brown stains and a black moldy patch, after I’d fallen asleep right away, exhausted from our trip down. I wish I could post pictures. The carpet had white stains all over it, presumably paint, and the baseboard was missing throughout the room. The beds were as hard as rocks. I took a shower and the shower walls looked like they had never been cleaned. Hallways and staircases also looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while, with missing trim, white stains, and stuff on the floors. The room was a mess.

Eduardo was kind and made sure we were looked after on Thursday, but the stay went downhill after that. Our sheets and towels were dirty when we arrived, and by the following Saturday several shower settings didn’t work. At checkout, the front desk man said the manager would call to sort it out. No call came. I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially compared with an Airbnb.

The breakfast bar was great, and the location works well for what I need. It’s just off 249, though you can hear traffic in the morning. For towels and trash pickup, a call to the front desk wasn’t enough for me. I had to follow up and leave things outside the door. When I asked for soap and fresh towels, they brought them promptly. I recommend it.
