Sleep Inn & Suites Bush Intercontinental - IAH East

My room was clean enough, so no complaints about that. The dog kennel next door was another issue, unless you like barking. Breakfast was pretty pathetic: nothing hot, just Frosted Flakes and, gag, Froot Loops, bread, and powdered donuts. The juice machine was broken and there was no staff around to ask. I booked this place for the airport shuttle, and that was a mistake. We waited over an hour for the ride to IAH, while another traveler had already been stranded for 90 minutes and missed their flight. There were no updates or solutions, so we called an Uber to make sure we'd get to ours. Don't count on the shuttle.

The room was very clean, apart from the crispy critter I found in the bathroom this morning, and the area was quiet. Still, this wasn't a relaxing visit. Parking was extremely cramped for such a large hotel, with spaces for maybe 30% of the guests. The TV had very few channels and no guide, and when I tried to change channels it skipped 2-3 times before landing on one that was live. They also charge $25 for late checkout, even for Choice Diamond members like me. The Front Desk agent just said my status doesn't apply here. Unless you only need somewhere to sleep for one night, I can't recommend this place.

Breakfast made for a good start, with waffles, sausage, eggs, yogurt, fruit cups, donuts, muffins, cereal, bread with butter and jam, juice, milk, and coffee. I was here overnight on a layover at IAH, and the free shuttle was timely both from the airport and back, which made the trip much easier. Check-in was quick and the staff were friendly and helpful. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet enough to sleep well. The bathroom was basic but clean, and everything worked fine. The location is convenient, close to the airport.

The location is okay for the airport, with a few restaurants nearby, but I'd look elsewhere for a place to stay. We had problems across several rooms. One was fine but dated, so don't expect anything modern, and the shower was in an odd spot. Another room smelled of cigarettes. They did move us, but should have checked it before guests arrived. A third room had dirty sheets. There was also a small cockroach in the water cooler near the main kitchen.
