Studio 6-Houston, TX - Westchase

I like this Studio 6, but there’s a lot that needs attention. My wife is allergic to cigarette smoke and nearly passed out while driving, after we walked into secondhand smoke from someone smoking just outside the building. For a 100% smoke-free property, that should include the parking lot. I told the desk clerk, but he didn’t seem to care. There were children on site, and Texas state law requires people to be 21 or older to be around smoking. There was also a used coffee pod in the coffee maker, plus an ear pod in the slot where the coffee pod goes. It made me wonder if someone was trying to listen to people in the room. The room was nice, but the microwave and toaster were mounted so high that someone 4’11 or 5 foot, or under 5’5, couldn’t reach them. There was no cookware, either, so were we supposed to buy some and leave it behind? We were on vacation, not taking it home. They provided just three towels for a room that holds six, and only two pillows for a queen bed. People normally sleep with two pillows each, so there should be four per bed. And why do guests have to bring towels to the front desk instead of housekeeping handling them? I reported all of this, but the desk staff didn’t seem to care. One guy was Black and the other was Indian. I didn’t get either of their names. I’m not racist, just saying what race they were. This has been the worst motel I’ve stayed at. One more thing: when the cleaning crew came to do the rug, they used Pine-Sol or something else with pine in it, which is toxic to dogs. As an asthmatic, I could barely breathe in the halls. Something needs to change. If my animals or I had ended up in the hospital, I would have sued. DO BETTER PEOPLE. And if guests bring kids, they should respect the people who are there on vacation.
