Staybridge Suites Houston Galleria Area by IHG

We knew ahead of time that the highway would be loud, but the unwelcoming attitude and the setup for the third person made for a rough start. We'd booked for three, yet the sofa bed wasn't prepared. Arriving late, we had to pull it out and go down to the lobby for linen, then make it up ourselves. The rooms themselves are great. I was also told they'd have soy milk at breakfast, but they didn't. I wouldn't stay here again, tbh.

One of the nicest places I've stayed, with a newer room, walk-in shower, great service, secure parking for an extra $28 a night, and a much better than average included breakfast. But the road noise and rush-hour gridlock cost it a star. There's an on-ramp about 50 yards in front of the hotel, and between 9 PM and midnight or so, someone with a modified muffler guns up it about every 30 seconds, shaking the windows on that side. Unless you're stone deaf, ask for an odd-numbered room with a City View to the East.

Breakfast and social hour were the only saving graces for me and my wife. The night-shift staff member we mostly dealt with seemed uninterested in her job. Our room had a very strong mildew smell, and we later found that the toilet wouldn't flush. We asked at the front desk if we could change rooms and were told no. They said someone would come up to see if they could do anything about the smell, but nobody showed.

Misty at the front desk made a huge difference. I've never had better hotel service. The rooms were cozy and had more than we needed to be comfortable, and the price was competitive too.
