Hampton Inn Sturgis-Lagrange Area

The room was comfortable and clean, and we had plenty of clean bathroom linens, crisp sheets, a clean, cold fridge, and a clean entryway and bathroom tile. The AC cooled the room well. Its fan was a little loud, but ran steadily. Internet was easy to connect to and fast enough for us. Two of the three staff members were helpful and friendly, and access from the major toll road was easy. There were plenty of breakfast options, though most were mediocre to poor, like what we've encountered this summer. The building needs updating. Spots on the ceiling and bathroom looked ready to crumble or flake off, as if from leaks. The original wall outlets were so loose that my computer plug fell out and couldn't be used, though the newer desk outlets worked. The tub was badly stained and so uneven it seemed like a slip-and-fall hazard. The stuffed chair was stained too. The third-floor ice machine didn't work. The only elevator was out on our first day, then loud and jerky after it was fixed, so we avoided it. The window screen was frayed and loose across the top of the frame. Lighting was adequate, but not very bright, and the pool didn't open until 0900, so early morning swimming wasn't an option. We used to think Hampton Inns had an edge over other chains. After experiences at three different locations this summer, we don't feel that way anymore and will look at other options. Would we stay here again? Only as a last resort.

The hotel smelled as soon as I walked in, and the room and bedding both had a dusty, dirty odor. The blankets were so heavy I could hardly move. The elevator sounded like it had serious problems, and the place was overpriced. Stay somewhere else!!!!

The room was good, but the AC/heater wasn't working very well. Even with the thermostat at 64, the room temperature was 70. The hotel itself is nice, though they seem understaffed, so service wasn't what I'd expect from a Hilton property.

This hotel feels dependable and comfortable for the town, even if it's a bit dated, and I'd stay again without hesitation. My room was clean and comfortable, which matters most to me, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. After a long travel day, I also appreciated the well-lit lot and easy access to the building. The property clearly needs an update, especially the elevator, which could use maintenance. It didn't affect my safety, but it stood out. I'd give the staff and room a 5, and the overall property a 3 because of the aging infrastructure. I spent some time exploring the area during my stay at the Hampton Inn in Sturgis, MI, and found it a good match for the town.
