Kensington Inn

I barely slept because the beds were so uncomfortable, and I woke up in pain. The rooms smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, the towels were tiny, and the manager was needlessly rude and unprofessional. I wouldn’t stay here again, no matter how cheap it was. Before booking the Kensington Inn, there are a couple of other things to know, though neither affected my rating. The Michigan Department of Corrections houses parolees at the property, in an area separate from the rooms for paying guests. They are non-violent, low-risk offenders. As far as I know, no paying guest has ever had a problem with them. The inn does not house people convicted of criminal sexual conduct involving minors or adults, or parolees with violent convictions. Local organizations have also arranged short stays there for homeless people. I spoke with some of them, and they were nice people in a difficult situation.

The location makes it easy to get onto interstate 96, and the rooms are good.

I’ve stayed here twice, and both visits were great. The room was clean, peaceful, and really quiet, with a great price. I’ll definitely come back.

Howell To Go is a very good pizza place right next to the hotel, an easy walk away. The inn is pet friendly, too. My room showed its age despite some updates, but it was perfectly serviceable. The person who took my reservation and the gentleman who checked me in were both incredibly friendly and helpful. I appreciated their kindness enough that I’d use this hotel again.
