Hampton Inn Dayton/Huber Heights

The breakfast person deserves five stars, and the housekeepers do too. The woman who checked me in last night had a terrible attitude, though I don’t know why. I felt she overcharged me. I’d called ahead and got a quote from a really nice guy, and the same price was listed online. Her price was different, as if she thought she needed a tip. I asked for a receipt but was told they couldn’t provide one.

We’ve stayed here twice while driving through, and both times the hotel was extremely noisy. The rooms themselves are perfectly fine, but the noise and a disappointing breakfast, even for a free continental one, mean we’ll stay somewhere else next time.

The hotel is just off the interstate, with food and shopping close by, including a Five Guys right across the street. The staff were all incredibly friendly, and Samantha (Sam) made a real difference at check-in. After driving through rainy mountains from Maryland all day, her cheerful manner and huge smile lifted my spirits right away. As usual for Hampton Inns, the room was clean and well appointed, and breakfast was just what you’d expect.

I told the person at the counter about the room problems, but they said there were no other rooms. The air conditioner showed a service code and wouldn’t cool below 71, the blind control switches were broken, and the bathroom door wouldn’t shut or lock. There was broken wall art and a large crack running down the wall. This was one of my worst hotel stays. If management wants to contact me, I have photos and video of everything.
