Hudson Mariner

We spent a lovely morning with coffee in the cozy backyard, and getting around was easy. The Hudson Mariner sits right by the Empire State Bike Trail, with restaurants and sights an easy walk away. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated. We had a great time and hope to come back soon.

The suite felt warm and beautiful as soon as we walked in. The fireplace, lovely colors, couch, and beds made it especially inviting, and the furniture was some of the most comfortable we’ve ever had. In the morning, sunlight came through the tall front windows overlooking the Hudson and showed off details we’d missed the night before. The old building and its surroundings felt authentic, while the updated entry process worked without a hitch. We also admired the polished antique cabinets and tasteful nautical artwork. The shower was hot and had a strong flow, with enough room for two, just how we like it. We wished we could use the back porch and courtyard, but it was too cold. We’d give the place three thumbs up if we had them!

We arrived late, but check-in was easy and smooth. The room was clean, and the place was great.

My partner got food poisoning from a local restaurant overnight and was still vomiting at checkout. We’d called the front desk and were grateful they offered 11:30am instead of the original 11am checkout. But at 11:30, cleaning staff were knocking, and the front desk told us we had a maximum of 10 more minutes. My partner couldn’t walk. I asked if they expected her to throw up in the hallway and out on the street. Nobody had asked how she was or offered water or help finding a pharmacy. Only after we asked for a manager did we get an offer to stay until 12:30. We left at 11:50 and went to a local cafe so she could use the bathroom. She collapsed there for an hour. We know this is a small business and someone else was due in our room, but there should be a plan for guests who become ill. There were other rooms listed online for that night. Could one have been offered to us or the incoming guests? We were willing to pay for another night. It was an awful experience. There are plenty of locally owned hotels around here, and I’d recommend spending your money somewhere with more heart.
