Best Western Plus Stevens County Inn

For our two-night stay, checkout came to about $90 more than the reservation. They said not to worry and assured us the card would be charged at the reserved rate, but that didn’t happen. Now we’re playing telephone tag to sort it out.

A couple of hours later, they called my coworker again, apparently using the phone number they had for me, and said they smelled drugs in the room. They said there wouldn’t be a $200 fine, just a warning. After that, emails about it went around all the branches of my company. Because of the nature of my work, I had to pay for a professional drug test myself, lose half a day of work, and drive to Dodge City to get it done. They had changed the number on my booking to my coworker’s, and never called me themselves. The reservation card was in my name, and I gave them my debit card for incidentals. I know I won’t get back the money I lost, but I’d like to see some accountability from the owners. The stay was absolutely horrible. The pictures I uploaded show exactly how the room looked after it had supposedly been cleaned. I think someone at least went in and then called a random person to ask if I still wanted to keep the room through Friday, as I’d said from the start. That guy works at the same company as me, in a different department. He isn’t a manager or my boss, just a coworker.

I’m out of town most weeks, so I’ve stayed in plenty of places. This oasis in western KS stands out from the rest. Great stop, and the breakfast was great too!

The elevator was out of order, but we understood that these things happen, so it wasn’t a big deal. We’d happily stay here again. Our rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the mini fridge even had a freezer for my cooler ice packs. The indoor pool was great, and my team enjoyed the facilities. We booked three rooms, and one guest left some things behind. Rosey and Dawson went the extra mile, calling and texting me about the items and offering to ship them. Kimberly also did an amazing job on her first night working alone at the front desk. Even with computer trouble, she stayed calm and gave excellent customer service. She’s a real asset, and this location has a great team. I travel for a living, so having one of my best hotel experiences says a lot. Thanks for making our weekend comfortable.
