Sleep Inn & Suites Metairie - New Orleans West

The location was great and breakfast was good, but the rooms smelled strongly of weed. We had our five-month-old with us, and now that we’re home, even the clothes we didn’t wear smell like smoke. A lot of things were broken: the ironing board, bathtub, and iron. There wasn’t a blow dryer in the room, and after asking, I had to wait a day to get one.

I couldn’t get a printed receipt at checkout because they said the WiFi was down, and customer service was very unprofessional throughout. My concerns were brushed aside. Billing was also a problem: I was charged a day earlier than agreed, and they charged my card even though I’d told staff I would use a different one. At Sleep Inn & Suites Metairie - New Orleans West, the room door lock was broken, leaving us two women feeling unsafe and unable to sleep comfortably. The room was unsanitary, with mold and water stains on the ceiling, hair on the bathroom ceiling, sink, towels, and even in the bed, plus dirty covers. The sofa bed mattress was held together with duct tape, its pull-out cushions were badly stained, and one cover had visible blood on it. We were told there were no extra pillows or towels. The ice machine was broken, staff were constantly using the elevator, and the stairwell smelled of stale smoke. Unsafe, unsanitary, and poorly managed. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We only managed six hours of sleep before leaving as soon as we could. We’d stayed here in September 2019 and liked it, so we chose it for a last-minute overnight trip to New Orleans. What a nightmare this time. The floors were soaked and filthy, stained all over. We booked two rooms and had to switch one because the smell hit us before we even opened the door. It smelled like puke. In one room, the bed was practically on the floor. There was no hair dryer or coffee pot, and rust and dirt were everywhere. It felt like a place for construction workers, but I wouldn’t want my husband staying here either. If we hadn’t been exhausted, we’d have gone somewhere else. Don’t waste your money, time, or energy. Do better.

The beds and bathroom were clean, and the regular sofa was fine. Room 205 had a king bed, but the pull-out mattress was disgusting. The ice machine on floor 1 was broken; there’s another on floor 3. In Room 203, the TV had no volume. I also found scratches on the wall. We paid for two nights, but the next day we were signed out and our key stopped working. It turns out putting your phone next to the card wipes it, but my mom thinks guests should be told that. She’s never seen a hotel this bad, and Google’s two-star rating makes sense. We’ve never stayed at a Sleep Inn before and won’t again. I’d suggest places like Hampton Inn instead. (Response back to owner) I half accept the apology, because this wasn’t cool.
