TownePlace Suites by Marriott Huntington

For the price and convenient location near most of the city, it was otherwise a good stay. The hotel seemed fairly new or recently remodeled, was clean, and had ample parking and excellent staff. The water pressure was strong, but the shower never got hot enough, and when another room used water, both the pressure and temperature dropped. My door also wouldn’t lock from inside, and the cooktop didn’t work. This hotel could easily be a 10.

Makayla found us a room for the weekend and assured us that all the rooms are non-smoking. After the strong cigarette smell at our supposedly non-smoking rental made us leave, it was a relief to find a hotel room that was truly clean and didn’t stink. Breakfast was a nice touch too. We usually choose Airbnbs for personal reasons, like keeping money local, supporting small businesses, and having more space, but this time Makayla and Marriott rescued our weekend. Thank you!

My husband stayed here for three months while working in the area. His room was clean and comfortable, and everyone he dealt with was friendly and helpful. Special thanks to assistant manager Makayla, who was always responsive and great about answering his questions.

If nicotine seeping through the walls bothers you, don’t stay here. The no-smoking policy isn’t enforced: I reported indoor smoking on several nights, and nothing was done. Unpleasant.
