Motel 6 Huntsville, TX

Every fabric in the room was stained, and the sheets had burn holes, tears, and crumbs and dirt on them. I found clumps of hair on the floor and stuck to the towels, plus bugs squashed against the wall. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a decade. This was by far the filthiest place I've ever stayed. Even for a budget motel, pay the extra $30 to go somewhere else. I feel like I need a tetanus check after staying here.

I usually choose the cheapest hotel and don't mind a few stains, but roaches are where I draw the line. I walked in, saw bugs, and gave the room a chance anyway. Then, while I was trying to sleep, one crawled up my pillow. For the first time ever, I checked out early and moved to the Days Inn nearby. It cost an extra $80, on top of the $50 I lost on the original reservation, but it was worth it to have a bug-free room. Save the hassle and extra money by paying a little more for the Days Inn or practically any other hotel. I don't know how this Motel 6 is still open. Besides the bugs, the bathroom door had a hole and the sheets were torn. Roach warning, do not stay here.

Construction made the place hard to reach. I drove past the driveway about five times before I understood how to follow the road the construction had sent me down to get there. Once inside, the room was clean, decent, and in order. The front desk attendant was there, and it was very quiet. It wasn't as bad as I expected.

This was by far the worst place we've stayed. We had two rooms, including one wheelchair-accessible room, and neither had hot water. When we opened the other room, there was a pile of swept-up dirt left right behind the door. There was blood on the toilet, shower curtain, and tub, with bugs everywhere. In the accessible room the air conditioner didn't work until we cleaned it, and the bathroom door scraped along the floor when opened or closed, which is difficult when you're in a wheelchair. Both rooms were dirty and there was no hot water.
