Red Roof Inn PLUS+ Huntsville

The staff members were friendly, and I understand the rooms were offered at a reasonable price. Still, the property’s condition and cleanliness overshadowed that. I wouldn’t recommend it. Next time I’d rather pay more or stay somewhere else, like the nearby Comfort Inn. It’s advertised as pet-friendly, but the smell when we entered was overwhelmingly unpleasant, strongly like pet urine. The room looked nothing like the website photos. The mini fridge didn’t keep food cold, and its stand was rusty, dirty and covered with what looked like roach shells. There were dried liquid stains on the doors, rust inside the microwave, and the filthy, unstable AC was literally hanging on by one screw. The floors looked unswept and unmopped, and someone had left a false fingernail under the sink. The luggage cart was covered in dog or cat hair and smelled strongly of pets. During our stay, three to four police cars and an ambulance arrived, which made us more uncomfortable. Before putting our belongings in the room, I went out and bought bleach, Fabuloso, toilet cleaner, a brush, Scentsy products, a mop, spray bottles, disinfectant spray, shower cleaner, disinfectant wipes, gloves and trash bags so I could clean from top to bottom. I also asked for a broom to sweep the luggage cart myself before disinfecting and wiping it down.

I’ve usually had good things to say about this place, and everything else is great. I normally book a first-floor, non-smoking king room. This time, after my reservation was approved and paid for, they switched me to someone else’s two-bed room without calling. I appreciate that they found me a king room, but it was on the second floor, and I hate going up and down stairs. I’ll still stay here in the future unless this happens again.

Room 201 had some dust, but it was manageable, and the stay itself was amazing. We did leave a belonging behind. When I called, the woman who answered sounded annoyed and said nothing had been left. I can only assume it was left in the bed or taken.

We were given a second-floor room even though my wife is handicapped, and there’s no elevator for guests with disabilities. There’s no breakfast either. I also called for directions and was given the wrong ones. We won’t stay another night or come back.
