Studio 6 Extended Stay Huntsville, AL - US Space & Rocket Center

I got some much-needed rest thanks to Mae, the housekeeper who took care of the room. The bed and linens looked spotless and smelled sanitized, which was a relief compared with some other area hotels. Mae clearly takes pride in her work, and it shows. Thanks!

At check-in I found out there was a cleaning fee that wasn’t listed on Travelocity. I don’t mind paying it, but the room should at least be clean. I showed the young woman at the desk pictures and told her about it. The place looked neglected too, with a big gap in the ceiling by the elevator and an unfinished ceiling. This was my first time at a Studio 6. I called to say I’d arrive after 9 p.m., and they said okay, even though they didn’t verify who I was. I’d booked about a week ahead, but when I arrived, the desk had to check whether a room was available. I’d reserved for three, though only two of us traveled. There seems to be an issue around this part of Huntsville with rooms being given away if you show up late. The no-smoking signs seemed optional: people smoked in all areas, and there was a strong “skunk” smell around the stairs and hallways. I’m not sure anyone sweeps or cleans around there.

I spent 12 days here and would stay again. Manager Andrew was great, and Cassandra was sweet and wonderful. There was one small hiccup, but it got fixed, so I’m very happy with the stay overall. The rooms aren’t as updated as some other hotels, but they were very clean. Having a kitchenette helped me save on food, and there was plenty of cabinet space. You do have to log into some apps on the TV, but that didn’t bother me. Everything is within a mile or so, and deliveries are easy to get. Best wishes to the staff and the kind maintenance man who enjoyed seeing my dog every morning. Sorry I didn’t ask his name. Maybe I’ll see you all again soon.

After nearly 40 minutes on the phone with Expedia in the parking lot, they finally reached the hotel and got me a refund. The whole thing was needlessly stressful and poorly handled, and I won’t stay here or recommend it. The front desk, especially Bree, showed no accountability or care. It felt more like a power trip than genuine hospitality. I booked through Expedia late on a Thursday, last minute, but chose Thursday to Sunday by mistake instead of Friday to Monday. I contacted Expedia right away to correct it, and they spoke with the hotel for me. The hotel refused to change the dates or refund me, but Expedia asked them not to mark me as a “no-show” so I could check in Friday. The front desk representative Bree spoke with Expedia directly. When I arrived Friday, for the dates I intended, I found I’d been marked as a no-show, despite Expedia’s request. When I gave Bree my ID, she first acted like she didn’t remember the conversation, then said Expedia had told her to mark me as a no-show. That was false, and I have records showing Expedia said the opposite. When Bree called her manager, she left out that I’d made a booking error and framed it as if I was just asking for a refund, which wasn’t true. I only wanted to stay on the correct dates. She said I was “yelling in her ear” when I simply wanted to explain the full story to her manager, then walked away instead of trying to sort it out.
