The property is gorgeous and well maintained, the pool was nice, and the morning donuts were amazing. My son especially loved the guard cat. The staff were friendly, hardworking, and helpful whenever we needed something. The rooms are small but clean, and the beds were a little hard, though I know some people like that. Trains nearby are out of control, but that's not the hotel's fault, so I'd suggest ear plugs. After a long day at Cedar Point, it was nice to unwind and watch TV. This is my new favorite place to stay for Cedar Point, a real find among all the hotels and motels nearby. We plan to come back next year and stay longer so we can relax and explore.

The room smelled fresh, and when I wiped the carpet with a washcloth, it came away spotless. The bed was comfortable, the shower pressure was good, and the water got very hot. Haleigh at check-in was friendly and wrote down local restaurants for us to try. The Maple Hotel is a safe, welcoming family business that's been passed down. We met a couple from West Virginia, and the gentleman had stayed there since he was young. We're an older couple ourselves. The owner was out cleaning rooms and came over to talk with us. He was amazing, and it felt like we'd known him forever. He shared the motel's history, and you could see how proud he was to own and maintain his family's business. It may not be the Ritz, but you get a warm, quaint feeling here that you don't get at the Ritz. I could imagine everyone sitting out by a campfire, chatting and enjoying one another's company. Keep Mom and Pop businesses alive, this is what it's all about!

The owner and his dog are easy to talk to. I'd stay there as often as needed!

The temperature in the room was uncomfortable at first, but the man there was friendly and helped sort it out, so I'll give two stars instead of one. The place needs a thorough remodel. There was no bathroom door lock, the sink looked propped up with a tent pole, the sheets had holes, and there were flies in the room. It took an hour to swat them all. The outlets were hard to reach too, so I had to use my laptop like an extension cord for things such as my phone. Some people like the old-fashioned feel, and that's fine. To me, this is outdated, not vintage. The Spenser House in Erie PA is a good example of an old-fashioned place that's beautiful while still having the updates needed for comfort in the 2020s. The Maples Motel was outdated when I stayed in June of 2022. It may have improved since, but based on what I know, I don't recommend it.

The owner is very friendly, the rates are fair, and the location is handy: far enough from Cedar Point traffic, next to a nature preserve, and right by the park's back entrance. Rooms always smell fresh and clean. There's a railroad crossing across the street, so a loud horn goes off every 40 minutes or so. I heard they have earplugs, but I like the sound, especially the rumble, and it doesn't keep me awake. The pool is clean, fresh, and cold. If you're up early enough, there's coffee and donuts in the office. Always a nice stay.
