Econo Lodge near Snake River

The room started out freezing and took over two hours to reach an acceptable temperature. Turning on the furnace sounded like it might explode, and it was so loud we could barely hear the TV. The room was dirty, with stains, hair, and damaged items throughout a bathroom that was almost intolerable. Management seemed to take no pride in keeping the facilities clean or maintained. I know you get what you pay for, but I’ve stayed in other cheap hotels and motels that provided good service and a clean room. This place disappointed us from check-in to the room, and we’ll never stay at this location again.

The room was quiet, the AC worked well, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They offer free breakfast, but the selection was so dismal we skipped it on our second day and went to a restaurant. If the lowest price is your priority, this may be the place. It also felt close to having a sheet deposit: there was a price list for items charged if missing, plus other fees for trashing the room. Odd, since the carpet had plenty of cigarette burns.

I opened the drawers and quickly shut them again, they smelled of tobacco just like the lobby. The continental breakfast was cheap packaged bread, cheap salami, and plastic-wrapped cheese. I didn’t try it because I value my life, and can only imagine how it tasted. The bathroom had body hair all over it, the sink wouldn’t drain for the first two days, there was a suspicious yellow stain under the toilet, and some towels had brown stains. There was one bug in our room, in the bath when we arrived, though other rooms had bed bugs, so we were lucky. The mattress was so soft it felt like you could fall through it. The location leaves a lot to be desired, unless you happen to be a freelance exotic dancer on drugs. And if you’re wondering if it can really be that bad, trust me, it can.

We were traveling with our young children and dog and needed a pet-friendly place for the night, but were very disappointed and won’t stay at Econo Lodge again. The seasonal pool was open, though it badly needed cleaning. Our first room had dirt on the bathroom floor and what looked like a cleaning towel left there. The shower window had plywood where the glass should be, and the sink held standing water with a very loose handle that seemed ready to fall off. The front desk man apologized and moved us to another room. After we settled in, we found the TV remote missing, and the TV wouldn’t work without it. He said maintenance would bring one shortly at 6pm, but when we returned at 8:45 to ask again, he said maintenance had already gone home. The AC wouldn’t cool the room no matter how low we set it, and the fridge wasn’t cold enough for the kids’ milk. We had to keep the carton in a bucket of ice in the fridge to stop it spoiling.
