Motel West

The room had plenty of space for our dog to settle in, and the bed was just right, neither rock-hard nor so soft you felt you’d sink to the floor. I’d checked the reviews and expected the worst, but came away pleasantly surprised. The front desk clerk was pleasant and helpful, and arranged our request for a ground-floor pet-friendly room even though we’d booked through a third party. We had no trouble with the desk, despite some negative reviews. Two things kept the room from being a five for me: the shower temperature was temperamental, and there was fine dirt across the floor that you’d probably only notice walking barefoot.

After a long day on the road, the beds were perfect, and the rooms were clean with very hot showers. We called ahead because it was late, and the reception staff greeted us warmly when we arrived. We only stayed one night. There’s no breakfast, but they offer free juice, coffee, and water.

The room was older, though clearly maintained, and the towels and linens were washed well. We did find some coffee grounds in the in-room coffee machine, which could have been cleaned better. It’s a family-owned motel with a reasonable price. Near the front desk they have coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and orange and apple juice, which was great. Laundry was $1.5; the machines looked old, though it seemed they were replacing them the day we left.

We’ve come back four times because the place is clean, spacious, comfortable, and very reasonably priced. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and there are fresh homemade cookies at the front desk every time.
