Comfort Suites Independence - Kansas City

The WiFi was terrible, and I could hear people in the hall through the thin doors and walls. The rooms seemed clean and updated, the bathroom was stocked, and breakfast had good hot dishes along with the usual options.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so getting dinner after a long day at work was easy without driving far. I travel for work every week and often spend four nights in hotels, so cleanliness matters to me. This place was clean and comfortable and met my expectations. I’d stay again if I’m back in the area.

I used Choice Privileges reward points for three nights at Comfort Suites Independence – Kansas City. Check-in seemed fine, and at first the hotel appeared acceptable. After the first night, I reported an insect in the bedding as a cleanliness concern. Staff documented it and moved me to another room, which I appreciated, but there was no adjustment or compensation beyond the move. On the second morning, there was no hot water, and the front desk moved me to a third room. The next morning, there was no water at all, so I needed staff help again. After these repeated disruptions and room changes, I asked for the reward points to be refunded, but the request was declined. I understand maintenance problems happen, but having so many issues with basic amenities during a short stay made the visit difficult. Future guests may want to check room conditions and amenities in advance.

The day manager was wonderful, but the night manager was rude and disrespectful. After breakfast, staff locked the only area with tables and chairs, leaving just a few dirty seats in the small lobby. The ice machines didn’t work, the hot tub was “out of order,” and the pool was uncomfortably cold. We also found several bugs, alive and dead, including some next to the coffee maker. The furniture was stained, worn out, and falling apart. This property is in extremely poor condition. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
