Candlewood Suites Indianapolis by IHG

Lisa, the general manager, changed my mind about the stay with her understanding, professional, and courteous help. I’d first left a one-star review, but upgraded it to four stars after dealing with her. The hotel was clean and the room rate was very reasonable. If you stay here, ask for Lisa. Her service made a real difference.

The remodeled hotel looks fantastic, with brand new TVs, really comfortable beds, a spotless room, fresh towels, and a cupboard that was clearly just restocked. We arrived very late after driving into town for the IU/Ohio state game, but Joe at the front desk was friendly and helpful despite the hour. He explained the Wi-Fi codes, showed us how to adjust the heat in our rooms, and brought us ice when we came back down later. It’s rare to get such a nice facility along with night staff who are that helpful.

We chose the Candlewood Suites on 8111 bash st for a 31-day stay while our home was being remodeled. It cost $2000, and since taxes are exempt after 31 days, we stayed three more days, for 34 total. We’d had a much cheaper hotel option, but picked this place for the hot tub and pool. After just two nights, the health department closed them for the rest of our stay, so we paid for amenities we couldn’t use. We complained more than once and kept being told maintenance would come the next day to fix it. That was the response every time. We were told the assistant manager was acting as manager, so when we had problems we called Lori instead of the building’s actual owner. The front staff caused that confusion. Given the hotel’s quality, I could get a better stay in Indianapolis, and it’s a shame for a hotel in Fishers Indiana to be like this. I saw bugs, and there were rancid smells throughout the hotel. The first floor especially smelled terribly like cat litter and cats. A friend stayed with us for what I think was two or three nights and brought her service dog. She takes the dog everywhere, including stores and restaurants, and has never been refused service or told she couldn’t enter with it. But we got calls at 11-12 o’clock at night saying the dog couldn’t stay because it was a pitbull, though she is a mastiff, and didn’t meet the building’s service dog requirements. I was told they only accept small dogs, verbatim. I hope nobody else has the same experience my family had. I told the front desk staff and acting manager I’d leave a great review, and this is what I meant. If you want somewhere better for your time and money, go to Embassy suites. You won’t forget your time there or have a bad complaint. At least Holiday Inn has better staff and management.

There’s quite a bit of road noise because this is a busy area, but the location is central, with easy interstate access, spacious rooms, and plenty of places to work. It’s a good value and I’d highly recommend it. Check in late and you’ll probably meet Joe, who’s a real asset to the hotel. He’s professional and courteous even in the middle of the night or early morning. I had a great conversation with him when I checked out at 2am. A wonderful experience all around!
