The room looked lovely, the food was tasty, and everyone on staff was friendly. I’d still recommend the hotel, though a few things bothered me. I expected a microwave in the room, but had to go downstairs and use one behind the check-in counter. The parking deck was noisy enough that I kept the TV on, and getting my key card recalibrated was necessary so I could return to my room after my grandson left the day before I did. The hotel was farther from the convention center than I’d expected when booking, which was upsetting because I sometimes have trouble walking. For me, the priorities are a room microwave and a spot closer to the convention center.

Alicia was especially helpful and accommodating, and I appreciated that. I enjoyed my stay overall, and this feels like a decent three-star hotel, particularly if you’re in town for something downtown and don’t mind a lively scene. But it’s near the entertainment district, so it may not suit someone who wants a quiet night like I do. Noise comes through the windows and walls. You can hear nightlife from the street and guests partying in nearby rooms, or sometimes passed out drunk in the hallway. Bring earplugs or ask the front desk for some. There also isn’t round-the-clock housekeeping or overnight staff coverage, since most staff leave at night. I wish security were available at all hours to deal with loud or disruptive guests.

The location is great, though the $46 self-parking charge added to the room is a steep fee that I only learned about at check-in. The room itself was fine, nothing particularly good or bad. Service was the real problem: arriving at 5 p.m. to find the room still uncleaned and not ready was bad enough, but the staff seemed indifferent. We waited in the lobby with all our things and got no apology or even an offer of water. Just terrible service.

Gia at Pivot gave us some of the best service we’ve had in a long time. She was kind, attentive, kept our refills coming, and checked in without hovering. The front desk staff were also professional and kind when the computers were down on arrival. The room, though, was a letdown. The pullout bed hadn’t been made as promised, and it had what looked like cracker crumbs on it. Its linens had a hole and apparent grease stains, and the main bed’s linens had similar stains. The sofa bed was barely okay to sleep on, with the metal frame easy to feel. My neck and back were still hurting almost two days later. The toilet ran constantly, wasting water and making noise. The location worked well for the Fever game at Gainbridge, but the night wasn’t worth what we paid. I’ll look at other options next time we come into town for games.

We were in town for a game at Gainbridge Field House, right across the street, so the downtown location worked perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious and clean. The view was of an AC unit, which wasn’t ideal, though we hadn’t expected a great one. We had a great stay.
