The beds seemed clean and nice, but I’d pay a little more to stay somewhere else. The hallways stank of smoke, mixed with so much carpet cleaner or air freshener that it smelled like an orange explosion and gave me a migraine. There’s no elevator if you need one. One lamp had no shade, and there were holes in the wall where smoke alarms used to be. I’m fine with a cheap place that’s just a bed for the night, but I’d avoid this motel.

The pool was the main reason we booked, but it was closed. We were told it had been shut for two weeks, though the website didn’t mention it and nobody told us when we booked. Priceline offered 20% off a future booking, which didn’t help with this stay. The hotel wouldn’t compensate us, and said the manager who makes those decisions was “on vacation.” We also had to leave a $100 deposit and still haven’t got it back. Service was terrible from check-in. In the room, the toilet nearly overflowed when my son flushed it, and there was no soap in the shower, just one bar for washing hands. The outlets wouldn’t hold a plug and one lamp was broken. Extremely disappointing.

For the rate I paid, well under $100 a night, I thought this was a very good two-star hotel. The first floor is wheelchair accessible, the rooms are spacious, and the decor is tasteful. The refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, and heater/air conditioner all worked as intended. The temperature control was reliable, and I liked the steady fan noise at night. It was quiet enough that I didn’t really need it for noise blocking. The staff were friendly and easy to deal with, including someone on duty when my late flight got in. My tub dripped, but when I reported it they offered to move me to another room. There’s a coin laundry with a soap dispenser, an ice machine, and a computer and printer near reception. The basic free breakfast was more than coffee and donuts, and seemed fair for the price. The furniture and rooms show wear, and some things don’t work perfectly. The pool and exercise room weren’t used much. Still, I’ve stayed in three-star hotels with unchecked roaches and broken elevators or key cards, and that wasn’t the case here. There was plenty nearby within a mile, and I-65 was right there. Texas Roadhouse across the street was packed, but the hotel was quiet. I’d recommend it for a couple of nights away from rowdy hotels and traffic.

The bed was very comfortable, with three pillows and thick blankets, and the room TV worked fine. The breakfast was typical continental fare: waffles, wet eggs and sausages, and yogurt. Staff were neither friendly nor unfriendly, just doing their jobs. The pool was closed. There’s no elevator, which was rough with my mobility issues. I’m also confused about the $100 deposit. I’m home now and don’t see a charge or a refund, so please don’t charge me three days later. The bathroom had two partly used lotion bottles, presumably left by previous guests. Wi-Fi didn’t work: there were several possible networks, one asked us to sign in but gave no access, and the passwords provided for the others didn’t work. Fox News was on the lobby TV, which made me roll my eyes, though nobody seemed to be watching.

The room was disgusting, with mud, crumbs, and mold everywhere. It didn’t look cleaned at all. I have photos showing what I mean, and the staff seemed rude and unhelpful. A zero out of ten experience. I’d only stay here as a last resort.
