The Landing Indianapolis By Landing

The shuttle to and from the flight terminals makes a real difference, whether you’re arriving after a long flight or hurrying to your gate. This Crowne Plaza is right at the Indianapolis International Airport, so it works well for an overnight before flying. The building feels dated, from the late-'90s room decor to the bathroom fixtures, but everything was clean and comfortable enough. My room was quiet and good for a night’s sleep. There’s a convention center, plus a small bar and restaurant. The food is fine and a little pricey, as you’d expect for hotel dining, while the bar has a relaxed atmosphere. The waitresses were friendly and the barmaid helpful, which made the night before my flight easy.

The service was excellent, and the rooms were mostly nice. On the fourth floor, though, the water pressure needs attention, and the bathtub faucet and showerhead need replacing. It’d also be good to have a breakfast option with rooms. For big sports events where kids are away from their parents, a buffet could bring in a lot of money. The bowling groups this weekend might have used one, maybe in a conference room.

We were there for a business networking event. The hotel is spacious, and the breakfast and lunch catering for our group was well organized and really nice. Our room was ordinary but comfortable and quiet. It’s better than many hotels I’ve stayed in, though I wouldn’t call it five star. A couple of things were annoying. The toilet sat very low, and housekeeping didn’t come until around noon, later than we expected. The room was cleaned well, but they left a dirty plate behind. We put it outside the door, and it stayed there for two full days. The little snack shop was also extremely expensive, even more than airport snack prices. I don’t know if that’s typical for hotels like this. A good, comfortable base for a business event, with a few things to improve.

My granddaughter and I needed scissors, so we went down to the lobby and met the kindest woman in the elevator. I’ve forgotten her name, but she found us scissors and gave my granddaughter some unicorns and stickers. At breakfast, people paid attention to her, and they even sent us off at checkout with a snack. We were in Indy for a sad reason, and the staff made the stay feel warm and welcoming. They were still lovely when we arrived close to 1 a.m. I’d stay again. Thank you so much.
