Cobblestone Hotel & Suites - International Falls

Breakfast was the highlight for me, with lots of choices and good coffee, and it was vegetarian friendly. There were waffles, eggs, meat, potatoes, fruit, yogurt, and more. The price was great, the rooms clean and cozy, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

We stayed three nights and never got room service. The pull-out bed was broken, and its mattress had pee stains. Our children got skin rashes in the pool, and we had to carry them out screaming. The front desk ladies were polite, but they offered neither compensation nor another room. They say the pool is saltwater only, yet chlorine ruined my boxer briefs. The manager was nowhere to be found and wouldn’t answer Hotels.com’s calls about a refund.

The staff made everything work without fuss, and the room was very clean and comfortable. The air quality and temperature and humidity control were all just right. Breakfast was fresh and left me feeling fueled for the day. It was a calm, peaceful, refreshing stay, and I can’t think of a better one in the area.

I travel to Canada to fish three times a year, and I’ll keep trying to book this motel for each trip, though it’s often already full. I can see why. On my first of what I hope will be many stays, the clerk was pleasant and friendly, and the rooms were exceptionally clean. I was surprised to find the rooms I booked fully outfitted with a stove, microwave, and full-size fridge. I didn’t need them, but it was nice knowing they were there. The pillows were labeled “firm” and “soft,” too.
