Suburban Studios Florence I-95

The mildew smell in our first room was blamed on the sink, but it seemed like the room hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived. In the next one, we found a roach crawling on the bed. My girlfriend and I checked several more rooms, then were offered a “nicer” one when we asked for a refund. We went through about eight rooms across the three buildings, including the ones they considered good, better, and best, and saw cockroaches in all of them. Staff said bugs were everywhere and that they spray and clean regularly. From what I saw, it seemed infested. Save your money and time unless you’re comfortable with cockroaches.

I checked out right away after the third room. The beds upstairs had visible stains and looked too unsanitary to sleep in. My first room hadn’t been cleaned, and after I reported it they moved me to another that was only a little better, with roaches and what looked like a few bed bugs. I went back to the desk and was moved again, but that was enough. They seem to be remodeling some rooms, so maybe things could improve, but they need proper cleaning and a reliable exterminator. I wouldn’t stay here unless you’re fine with unwanted company. You might be better off on the sidewalk. Proceed at your own risk.

After a 10-hour drive, we checked in at 12:14 a.m. on 1/3/26, hoping to sleep and finish our road trip in the morning. Less than an hour later, we noticed the room smelled of mildew and smoke. The sheets had several burn holes, and the blanket under the comforter was stained. We asked the front office for a refund because we weren’t staying. The employee was disrespectful, said we had caused the holes even though we don’t smoke, and threatened to call police for trespassing if we didn’t leave. They also said we shouldn’t have touched anything if we wanted a refund. Awful hotel and staff, just a terrible environment. I’d give zero stars if I could.

I’ve stayed four times, and my room has been clean each visit. The staff are really nice and quick to help. I’d stay here again.
