Hyatt Place Iowa City Downtown

The lobby was warm and inviting, and the hotel had a peaceful feel. Staff were welcoming and ready to help whenever I needed something. My room was roomy, with comfortable beds, good lighting, and a spotless bathroom. The whole place looked modern, clean, and well maintained. It's right downtown, so restaurants, shops, and the university area are easy to reach on foot. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and offered plenty of choices, and parking was simple and convenient. Great value for the service. I'd happily stay here again on my next Iowa City visit.

Rooms are a good size, and the upper floors offer some great city views. The TVs are basic, with a non-interactive guide and regular channels only, no streaming or other interactive features. The fitness center has treadmills, a Pelaton, ellipticals, and barbells. The pool and free hot breakfast are on that same floor. The hotel sits a couple of blocks southeast of the ped mall, so some places are closer. Still, the room quality was good for what we paid at Christmas. If you're visiting over a holiday, check the city website because parking is often free. There's a city ramp less than a block away, so you don't need to pay extra for hotel parking unless you want or need to.

I've stayed here twice and the staff have been friendly and helpful. During a family emergency, one staff member offered me a late checkout before I even asked, and I appreciated that so much. The beds are very comfortable, and breakfast is hot and tasty, with choices for low carb, gluten-free, non-dairy, and other needs.

The stay was good, and I'd happily come back. The rooms were clean and nice, and breakfast was a standard hotel spread. It tasted fine and works when you're short on time, though there are better food options around town. The hotel is about two blocks off the main drag in Iowa city. Parking is underground for a daily fee. One elevator was out over the weekend of 10/3-10/5, which meant long waits to get to and from the eleventh floor.
