Americas Best Value Inn Missouri Valley

I ended up staying at the hotel across the street, and I don't need anything from this place. I was debating whether to post this for a while. On June 18, I went to check in and was asked what I needed a room for because I was from out of town. I said to sleep, and the man told me they couldn't rent me a room because they'd had problems with people using rooms for bad things. I found it embarrassing to be accused like that, especially after I offered to let him look through my things. He was a large, heavyset Mexican man with glasses. He said they'd had a lot of people from Omaha come in and trash the place. I hope people see how the customer service handles a problem like this. I also have the receipt from the other hotel across the street. I'll take this down if I get an apology.

We ended up staying four nights because our truck's water pump started failing on a Saturday while we were heading home to Montana, and we couldn't get repairs until Monday. The staff were so friendly and made sure we had what we needed, including helpful food suggestions. The room was clean, smelled like fresh laundry, and had comfortable beds. We also had fresh coffee and a nice breakfast each morning. A special thank you to the manager for going above and beyond for us. We appreciated all of you!

We didn't make it as far south as Omaha, and this hotel worked well for us. The price is about half what the bigger places charge, so go in expecting a two-star stay: the basics need to work, but it's not fancy. The front desk was great at both check-in and check-out, and we felt safe. The hall stayed well lit, with nobody hanging around, and we saw no bugs inside or by the outer doors. The beds felt old and soft in a worn-out way, with springs you could feel. The shower was wobbly, but the water got hot. The towels need replacing because they hurt, and there were cracks in the caulk in most places. The carpet was fine, the AC worked, and we didn't bother with the little TV.

The dogs in the building barked all night, and the woman next door kept hitting the wall. I called the front desk and got no response. The internet didn't work, so we went somewhere else, but they wouldn't refund us. I was quoted $95 plus tax by the rude guy at the desk, then found it for half that on another website. We arrived less than an hour before check-in and were told no, which would've been fine if we hadn't already driven for hours. The whole place smelled musty. We booked two queen beds but got two full beds, apparently from 4/28/1997. The fridge quit on the first night. The AC and heater worked a bit, and there was hot water.
