Extended Stay America Suites Orange County Irvine Spectrum

I've been staying at the Irvine location for a while, and it feels like things are headed in a better direction under GM Brandi and AGM Anthony, after a couple of management changes. Anthony deserves a special shout-out for his great personality, ability to make you smile, and willingness to go the extra mile to resolve issues. That's good customer service.

The sunsets here are gorgeous, and there's plenty of parking. We've been staying long term for about six months, and the grounds have stayed clean. Brandy Ibeh at the front desk and Anthony, the assistant manager, have always been respectful and kind, and they deal with issues quickly. They clearly care about the hotel and its residents, and go out of their way to make us comfortable.

This place has been a mess on both of my stays. The associate said there should be oatmeal and muffins from 6:30 to 9:30, but when I went down at 8:50 there was only coffee. In the shower, hot water lasts about a minute, then turns lukewarm and cold. The door hinges don't line up properly, so the doors don't always close. I checked that mine was locked before leaving, but came back to find it open. I guess someone had been in to clean, though nothing had been cleaned and the trash hadn't been changed. Then you wait ten minutes at the desk and still can't get help. The staff I actually spoke with were pleasant. The guy who checked me in was really friendly, but seemed to struggle helping other guests because he hadn't been trained. I stayed here twice and hoped the first bad visit was just bad luck, but the problems happened again. Probably won't give them a third chance.

The room was so poorly kept I couldn't stay the night and had to find somewhere else. There was mold in the bathroom, used toothpaste in the sink, a completely rusted stove, and something stuck to the toilet seat that we couldn't identify. I did get a refund, but I won't stay here again.
