Residence Inn by Marriott Irvine Spectrum

I hardly ever write reviews, especially negative ones, but my room wasn't cleaned. I called to request cleaning and it still didn't happen, so I had to call again. For what it costs, I expected better service. After I complained, they offered points as compensation, but I had to keep following up and got only 200. I wouldn't recommend it.

The room was huge and beautiful, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I liked the apartment-style layout, with shared spaces like the pool and tennis and basketball courts in the middle. It seems like it could be great for families. I stayed on the ground floor and kept waking up to the person above walking around because the ceiling creaked really loudly. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a second-floor room. I'd stay again, but I’ll request floor 2 next time since I come for work and need good sleep.

Ireland at the front desk was warm and hospitable, and the anniversary gesture for me and my wife meant a lot. The room looked very nice inside, but the carpet smelled muggy, like pets and cigarettes. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and I wish there were separate pet rooms for people with allergies. The gym was tiny, with three treadmills, a stair climber, dumbbells, and a bench. The pool was small, only five feet deep, and exposed to the parking lot and street; some wall or canvas for privacy would help. I was disappointed there was no jacuzzi. Breakfast wasn't great either: watery eggs, no potatoes, bland waffle mix, paper-like bacon, orange-colored water with no flavor for juice, and no donuts, pastries, or sausage. Other Resident Inns provide those things. There also wasn't evening social time with complimentary snacks like nachos or fries, as at other Resident Inns locations. I hope they improve these areas, and the staff deserve praise for their hard work and hospitality. Jesus Christ Loves You!!!

The shower pressure was a little low. Otherwise, I liked the quiet location, surrounded by companies, with easy access to major roads and only a five-minute drive from Irvine Spectrum. The employees were very hospitable, handled my requests well, and the cleaning was really good. Breakfast was a comfort while traveling with children: free and warm each morning, with small portions of yogurt, cereal, and oatmeal, plus scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. The laundry room has washers and dryers for $3 per use, and there’s free coffee at the main entrance.
